Pinteresting things I’ve been making

 

Being a seamstress, I have a fascination with dress forms,I had seen some miniature ones on Pinterest and I thought what a great idea, so I got my march 2000 Threads magazine out (Which I am trying to go through all my threads magazine stash and do at least one thing out of the magazine) and there was a pattern of a miniature dress form and I thought, yes that’s what I want to do!!!
So I traced out the little pattern and enlarged it a bit. I had some fabric straps on hand (of course) and I cut out my little form and started hand sewing them…well one thing I figured out….Don’t use fabric that unravels easily!!! It just kept falling apart but I managed to sew it up in some fashion. lol  I wasn’t happy with the shape of my dress form. It was a bit on the short and wide side hehe, but cute for a pincushion though. So I proceeded to make my own pattern and the dress form below is what I got.

I just did it up quickly not being too fussy on how I was making it as I’m just practising until I get the shape I desire. I liked the shape a bit better on this one but I’m still not satisfied yet. I didn’t like that my neck and the bottom of the form was not solid enough. The bust wasn’t shaped properly either

This size is a bit bigger than the first and great to put hold bracelets!!

I really hate sticking pins in my dress forms…It makes me feel like a bad person with a voodoo doll!!! lol

 

and so I decided to make yet another pattern to try it out.

This one is bigger. loved the neck!! as you can see it’s a lot straighter and solid because I put cardboard in it. I also did that for the bottom of the form

I didn’t like the waist on this one…I feel that it is too thick around the waist and I didn’t like that the dress form is made in two pieces, top and bottom. I wanted my dress form to be one piece…so I made another pattern….and you’ll have to wait until I finish it to see that one!

Made my own Mod podge and did a decoupage on a table a friend had given me with some old magazines I really needed to get rid of….Threads magazine will be happy to know their magazine was so great I bought the same magazine twice, TWICE!!! So I used it on my table. Haven’t varnished it yet.

Want some ice-cream!?? hahaha

 

My husband brought the wood stove up from the basement with the help of my brother and father in law….it was very heavy,…..into the living room so we will be toasty warm this winter!!! Yay, love my wood stove!!! He also made the hearth underneath.

 

This corner was a bit dark as it is receded from the rest of the walls and so I painted it with my accent color….lime green!!! fun!!!

Well they bug me!!!

I know some of you are probably searching for my blog www.atoushka.blogspot.com  but blogger deleted it because of spam!!! I've read up on it and I've heard other bloggers have had the same problem, sometimes more than once :(   but it is usually returned to them within a week or so....I hope this will be the case with mine. I can't live without my blog!!! lol

Please be patient and come back and check later next week. The ones who follow me via facebook will be notified if you check my facebook but the others will have to check on this blog. I hate that blogger did this to me and to you guys too, but it's their policy and they don't tolerate any spam and someone came and spammed me!!! The nerve of some people!!!

People who bug me...well, they bug me!!!  Why do people have to be so annoying?? Like the telemarketers, why do they have to call everyday and ask the same things?....don't they understand NO......I'm not interested!!? Ever!!! and will never be!!! Click!!!
  If I wanted something, I would go and find it myself...sure put all the ads you want but do you really have to shove it down our throats?? gag gag gag.....
OH and just to let you know....IF you put stupid comments and your blog name on this or any of my blogs just so you can advertise your blog, you can bet your boots that I won't be going to your blog, I'm just that stubborn and you annoy me .... but if I come across it while browsing and you have something that interest me then it will be my pleasure to take a look and enjoy the work I know goes into it.

Update

Blogger has deleted my blog!!!! The nerve!!!!  I hope I get it back soon!!!
Some "NICE" person decided to put tons of spam in my comments... and blogger doesn't like spam and so it is automatically deleted.. :(  They really have to do something about that because it is not my fault if someone else fills my comment section with their trash.... I followed the rules.... but I still have this blog that I can continue on for a while until they give me back the other one.. I would hate to think that I'd lose all that content for nothing!!

I've finally finished my "real jacket"  I call it "my coat of many colors." Now I've got to wait for a day when it's nice so I can take pictures of it along with my matching skirts than I made a while ago that you haven't seen yet. I've got to start making some tops now...I'm in desperate need of some....and they have to match the rest of my outfits. I need some long sleeve ones because I'm expecting it to get cold soon. Last year they predicted a cold winter because there was a lot of "arbre de cormier" I can't for the life of my remember what it's called in English....but they were everywhere and beautiful!!! I took lots of pictures of them behind my house. Anyways, they say when there are a lot of the red berries around that it means it's going to be a really cold winter...well, that wasn't so....we had one of the mildest winter last year, so I predict this year, since we have no berries on the trees at all that it's going to be a cold one!!!  I've got my wood stove ready, moved it from the basement to the living room now so I'll be good and toasty. Now that my house has almost doubled in size it doesn't heat the whole house like it used to from the basement but now our living space is on the main floor so we only need heat up there.

Heat, that's another story....good thing we have a wood stove because electricity is costing an arm and a leg!!

(Pre) casual jacket in Navy

 

Hello everybody!! I finally finished my pattern and made my pre jacket….yes that is before my actual jacket that I want to make…..

I was going to make my jacket pattern right on my “good fabric” but I prayed….yes I did,,, I asked God how I should do this and He said “make a pattern” ……..  but really??? I complained “Do I have to?”   He didn’t answer me back because I knew what he said the first time….sigh…..can’t get away with laziness with Him!!! lol BUT having obeyed him I get to have 2 Jackets!!! How great is that!!!?? YEAH BABY!!!! hehehe

So I got busy and made a paper pattern first. From the paper pattern, I used some corduroy fabric that I had on hand that I had found at a thrift store and some left over denim fabric that I had bought at Fabricville and made a fabric pattern that I sewed together. I didn’t quite have enough of the navy corduroy fabric but thankfully I was able to find the denim fabric that went well with it.

I ran out of the corduroy fabric before I was finished….sad…. so creativity took over and I pieced the inside and the sleeves and you’d never be able to tell unless I showed you!

So now this is my casual jacket that I can be comfortable in strolling around the neighborhood…. I’ve worn it once for a little while already and had a few compliments on it.

What I’m going to change on my “real jacket”?

The collar is going to be a bit different

The sleeves are going to be tighter around the wrist

The colors are going to be black,white and pinks                                               ?

It will be quilted in some places and pieced in others

The pockets will be deeper

The jacket will be slightly shorter

 

That’s it folks!! hope you liked my jacket and that you look forward to seeing the next one…..I’m already thinking that I have a nice dark pink corduroy fabric that would look good in a shorter version of this jacket….. maybe I’ll make it after my real jacket, you never know…..I may have to give away my last years coat that I made to someone so I don’t have too many jackets!!!….???
