The lighthouse (cover) (+playlist)

Hi everybody!!! I finally got it done!!! It took a few months!! partly because I had to wait for good weather and have the time to do it too as I was busy with other stuff!! We sure had a rotten spring but we are having a terrific fall!! Anyway, this song called "the lighthouse" is a song that I sang in church and I was practicing it one evening and my Uncle was passing by and he saw me through the window and stopped in to see what I was doing and I told him I was practicing this song to sing at church. He wanted me to sing it for him and so I did. He loved it and said it was a beautiful song!! Unfortunately he passed away not long after and I was asked to sing this song at his funeral. I sang it to a few funerals since. My aunt Corinne who lives in Florissant, Missouri had heard me singing it at the funeral and had asked me if I would record it and send it to her but at the time I had no way of recording anything and that is what started me into looking to record my singing. It was for her. I decided to make a video with it too so she could see places she might be familiar with as this is where she was brought up. I burned the song onto a dvd and sent it to her by mail. There were a few technical difficulties playing it but my talented cousin Mark fixed it right up!! lol My aunt said it was really beautiful and she really enjoyed it but if was stuttering(she said this in french and it sounded hilarious)lol My cousin Mark had to burn it unto another dvd and it took around 18 hours to do it and then it was fine. Much thanks to my cousin Mark!!! This song is not only a funeral song though, it is a song that makes you think about life and the blessings we have because of Jesus Christ's work on the cross, because He took our place at Calvary so that whoever would believe in this beautiful gift that God gave us, we would have everlasting life with Him. Such a simple thing yet so powerful!!! I hope you like this and that you would know how much God thinks of you!!!

Never feel like you are not good enough for God because HE says through Jesus you are!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I have tried and tried to upload this in a standard screen format but every time I upload it to Youtube it changes it to widescreen! I have no idea why. I actually watched it in normal screen once on Youtube and then checked it again and it has been set to widescreen. I searched for information on this and was led to do some changes in the tab section of Youtube and that did not work. My husband checked it out on his computer and he can watch it in standard screen but on my computer it shows up widescreen so I do not know what is going on... It sucks when you've lost 20 pounds and it adds it back on!!!LOL Hopefully you can watch it in a standard screen which in my opinion looks a lot better

Sexier red orange flowered pj pants and jacket

Hello everyone!!!

Well I found some more flannel!!! I had forgotten about this fabric that I had bought and when I went looking through my rather large stack, lo and behold, there it was!!! I also found this red jersey fabric that I had found at a used clothing store and I thought I’ll make a dress with it and some more pj bottoms with the flannel and so I made the pj bottoms and was looking at the red fabric wondering what kind of dress I could make with it and at the same time wondering what I could wear with the pants to take pictures and all of a sudden I was making a sweater!! I surprise myself sometimes! I never know what I’m making until it’s there!! lol

For the jacket I used double thickness as I wanted it to be a bit thicker than the fabric actually was. They sure don’t make fabric very thick now a days!!  The only problem with that was that is was a bit too thick for my liking when it came to some of the seams. I would have been better off with one layer thickness for this but at least it will be warm. Still it turned out decent.

 IMG_0981

So they are not so sexy, but boy oh baby, they are comfy!!! I think they are sexier than my rubber boots pj pants,

but that is just my opinion! hahaha

Click here if you haven't seen those

I think I could almost wear these out and about….well almost!! lol

IMG_1024

So awesome that I had the perfect color for my jacket to match my pants!!

IMG_1031IMG_1025     IMG_1032 IMG_1033   Doesn’t this remind you of little red riding hood?? Every time I look at this I start singing the crazy little song about red riding hood and the big bad wolf!! lol Now I’ve got you singing it too haven’t I?? heheheIMG_1040 IMG_1043 IMG_1046

This is my beautiful cat Kalie Rae, she hates to take pictures!!! She was like, mom let me go!!!

IMG_1052

This is my beautiful cat Minou Marie. She hates to take pictures also!! lol She wasn’t a happy camper here!

How to make the pants, here is a little tutorial

1 Make SURE your fabric is washed and dried the way it will be after the pants are made. It will shrink a bit.

2 Read all the instructions first and then come back and cut your fabric.

3 You need a little over 2 1/4 meters of 45” flannel fabric and a small piece of fleece in the colors of your choice.

4 You need a pair of pj bottom’s that fit you well or decent. I will show you how to fit properly for your body shape.

5 Turn your pants inside out and fold in half finding the seams of the front. The front usually has a smaller crotch length

6 Place on your fabric. Cut your 2 1/4 meters in half for easier handling.

7 Following the pants pattern cut out around it leaving about 3/4 inches for seams.

8 Do the same for the back pants. These probably have a longer crotch seam with a bigger curve for the seat.

9 Sew the front crotch seam from the waist to about 3/4 inch short of the edge of the crotch (at the curve)

10 Do the exact same for the back crotch seam. See picture below

11 Join the front and back at the hips to the ankle on both sides.

12 Join the front and back from the crotch to the ankles on both legs.

13 Your pants are ready for a fitting.

14  after you have the fit you are satisfied with serge or zigzag all seams.

15 sew crotch seam together where all the leg seams join at the crotch.

17 cut the fleece lengthwise about 6 inches wide with the stretch so that the stretch will go with your body.

18 fold in half and wrap around your body to see how much you need. Don’t forget to leave enough for seams.

19 Unfold and sew seam together. This will be your back seam. You can put an elastic if you like but I did not as I am sensitive to elastic and prefer not to have it. Will be a bit loser without the elastic.

20 Fold in half again lengthwise and match the raw edges of the band with the raw edges of the pants and sew around having the seam at the back. Topstitch the band sewing with the seam turned up into the band.

You’ve done it!!! Wear and enjoy your pj’s!!! Aren’t they great!!!???

Your waist should be close to horizontal like mine is in this picture.

IMG_0997

I have a slight pelvic tilt and a protruding bottom so I had to take in at the waist more to fit the curve of my back. I also had to take some of the back fabric off to even out the waist to get it horizontal to the floor. If not it would have been very slanted to the front with the back being a lot higher.  I like mine with a slight tilt to the front, not totally straight. I also made these low waist.

The side of the seams should be parallel with your body also.

Fitting for different body types. Here are some quick sketches that I drew to show you some fitting tips to get your

pj’s to fit comfortably.

That is it folks, Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have fun making your own pants.

P.S. Help when you are under attack

Have you ever had people be against you, twist your words to make you look bad and feel their hate towards you and lie about you? God gave me this palms to meditate on and I thought I would share it with you because I know without a doubt there are people who need this.

If you know you are innocent and you have people lying about you and trying to get you in trouble, pray in Jesus’ name something like this psalm and see if God doesn’t move mountains for you and come to your rescue and get back at your enemies!! God sees your tears, they are recorded in His book!!!

Psalm 56

For the director of music. To the tune of “A Dove on Distant Oaks.” Of David. A miktam.[b] When the Philistines had seized him in Gath.

1 Be merciful to me, my God,

for my enemies are in hot pursuit;

all day long they press their attack.

2 My adversaries pursue me all day long;

in their pride many are attacking me.

3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

4 In God, whose word I praise—

in God I trust and am not afraid.

What can mere mortals do to me?

5 All day long they twist my words;

all their schemes are for my ruin.

6 They conspire, they lurk,

they watch my steps,

hoping to take my life.

7 Because of their wickedness do not[c] let them escape;

in your anger, God, bring the nations down.

8 Record my misery;

list my tears on your scroll [d]

are they not in your record?

9 Then my enemies will turn back

when I call for help.

By this I will know that God is for me.

10 In God, whose word I praise,

in the Lord, whose word I praise—

11 in God I trust and am not afraid.

What can man do to me?

12 I am under vows to you, my God;

I will present my thank offerings to you.

13 For you have delivered me from death

and my feet from stumbling,

that I may walk before God

in the light of life.

There is also Psalm 57 that goes along with this. Just google it!!

Be blessed!!!!!!

My goodness, we are having a great fall!!!
IMG_0814
I used a different color fleece for the waistband and the bottom hems. I was a bit short on fabric because I washed the fabric first and it shrunk quite a bit more than I expected and so that is why I added the bottom.

Shot we just learned with the sun in back making a rim light on the hair, turned out pretty good!
Just bought the 5 in 1 reflector’s at amazon.ca Love it!!!

Happy thanksgiving to all out there in cyberspace!!!

I hope you have had a wonderful day and are thankful for the things you have and have had in your life. I was thanking God very nicely for the things that I have such as the typical things such as family, home, jobs etc. and then I said to him, but God of course I am happy and thankful for those things, that goes without saying, who isn’’t thankful for the things that make them happy???….. and then God reminded me to be thankful for everything.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (King James Version)18

In every thing give thanks

: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

So I started meditating on this and I started thinking deeper and the things that I’ve learned throughout the years and I went back to times when I was shamed and shunned as a very young girl and I was thankful for those times when  I  learned to have compassion and a sensitivity for others because of the grievous things I went through.  It was a hard lesson to learn, but I really believe it gave me something more than the average Joe. I believe it made me stronger. I believe when you go through something traumatic it gives you a knowledge beyond what someone who hasn’t been through your ordeal and so it’s like you possess a special secret that only you and God know and it gives you a quiet satisfaction that you know this secret. I am very thankful to know this now.

Proverbs 16:18-19 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling. 19It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.…

I thought back to my car accident in 1990 and I was very thankful for this and that it showed me that I wasn’t in control of my life. It was a major turning point in my life. It taught me that my life is not in my own hands and that there was something bigger and more powerful than I ever thought I was you see, because I thought I was the master of my universe so to speak. It taught me that I have absolutely no power at all because if I did I sure would not have chosen to be in a car accident at 24 years old and in a wheelchair with 2 young children and married to a husband on the verge of a divorce. This was extremely hard on me but still….I do not regret it, I can’t because it opened my eyes and led me to the best thing in my life, and that is Jesus. I would not want to live without Him again!! He’s my all in all, as the song goes. My everything.
I think back to an almost equally hard time in my life when I lost my mother of cancer at the age of 25 years old in 1991. I have a really hard time saying thank you for this one and it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. I wish I could have her back but I know this is the just the way it is. I do not think God took my mother away but the cursed cancer that is in this world because of sin did, not God.
My mother was  my best friend, my lifeline, my safe place and a saviour of a sort. After she left I tried to replace her with other things but “for some reason” they got taken away too and so it forced me to look elsewhere and it forced me to turn to God for comfort and HE became my best friend, my lifeline, my safe place and my Savior. He is the only one that will never fail you, never leave you and so He is the best!!!

Romans 8:28

English Standard Version (ESV)

28 And we know that for those who love God

all things

work together for

good

for those who are called according to his purpose.

I know that all the bad things that happened to me, God will use it for good according to his purpose.

Pictures of how I make my Roman blinds

Hi guys and gals, these are the way I make my roman blinds professionally. This is not a full tutorial but you can get some tips on how to make them.

head rail is wood

After your fabric and lining are sewn together in the size you need for your window and your dowels are in place you can sew on the little plastic rings in line with the screw eyes. I fold the roman blind up and use a pencil to mark a straight line using a ruler and then go through the tedious task of sewing on all the rings.

fall clothing and things_5634

The rings are all attached, lined up in a row. These MUST be sewn on well with a strong thread with at least 4 passes(like you would sew a button) and few good knots to make it hold.

fall clothing and things_5635

holes are cut out to be able to screw into the window frame.

fall clothing and things_5636  fall clothing and things_5640

The strings are strung inside the rings.

fall clothing and things_5641

They have a special knot at the end to prevent the string from slipping

Loop

Twirl around the loop three times and thread the end of the string through the loop

fall clothing and things_5639

Pull tight

fall clothing and things_5649

I use wooden or plastic knobs. The knobs have holes to thread the strings into it.

Tie a knot at the end after you have threaded it to prevent it from slipping through.

Got Leon to hold it up for me, as you can see it’s not his favourite job, hahaha

The pattern on this fabric is very nice!

Full length.  I LOVE making roman blinds, I have made quite a few for people that wanted all their windows with roman blinds. They are the neatest looking blinds. Draperies and blinds in one!!

I had pictures of the actual clients home and they looked really good in her old fashioned bedroom with the creamy walls and blue mats on the floor but do you think I can find them!!!?? sigh, Oh well Leon’s bored face will have to do! hehehe

Please excuse my bad manicure!! It’s right after I had gel nails on and I just ripped them off of my nails and it left them in a mess and then to try hide the evidence of my messy nails I put clear polish on them! lol (blush)  I’m not very good with nails, I’m not quite dainty enough :)

see you later

UPDATE!!!!  I found the rest of my pictures!!!    I know, I probably put too many pictures but I can’t help it :/
